Pochodzę z Petersburga – byłego Leningradu, a więc z miasta Aleksandra Glebowicza Nevzorova. Na przełomie lat 80-ch i 90-ch cały kraj z zapartym tchem siedział przed telewizorami, oglądając wieczorami 10-minutowe programy informacyjne „600 sekund” z Nevzorovem w roli prowadzącego. Program ten, istniejący w latach 1987-1993 i powstający w Leningradzkiej Telewizji, cieszył się ogromną popularnością, powiem nawet więcej – stał się symbolem, a zarazem zwierciadłem tego burzliwego okresu Pierestrojki…
Miałam wtedy lat kilkanaście i, jak każda nastolatka, mnóstwo ważniejszych spraw na głowie, niż te wszystkie pucze, przewroty i rewolucje, więc kiedy w 1991 roku na mojej ulicy w centrum Petersburga budowano barykady, a do naszych drzwi co chwilę pukali ludzie z prośbą o puste butelki na koktajle Mołotowa, jak co wieczór wychodziłam z psem na spacer i po prostu przełaziłam przez wciąż powstające zapory przeciwpancerne i udawałam się do parku przy Instytucie Pedagogicznym, gdzie czekała na mnie paczka moich przyjaciół… Starałam się w miarę punktualnie wracać do domu (jakoś w okolicach g.22), by mama się nie martwiła – za oknem raz po raz słychać było strzały, ale do żadnych większych starć z udziałem wojskowych w moim rodzinnym mieście nie doszło… Podobno jednostki pancerne, skierowane przez dowódców do siedziby władz miejskich (która znajdowała się i nadal znajduje jakieś 300 m od mojego domu, przy pl. Izaakiewskim), odmówiły wykonania rozkazu i miasto ocalało… Tłumy mieszkańców Petersburga, czekające na barykadach na dalszy rozwój wydarzeń, po kilku dniach zaczęły się rozchodzić, i powoli wszystko wróciło do normalności… Szkoda tylko zabytkowej żeliwnej bramy, którą zabrano z naszej kamienicy na barykady… A strzały, które słychać było za oknem w tamtych niespokojnych czasach, to podobno była sprawka miejscowych początkujących gangsterów, którzy korzystając z panującego w mieście zamieszania, wyszli na ulice, by sobie postrzelać…
Newzorow stał się uosobieniem tamtych czasów, a jego program – kroniką najbardziej bulwersujących wydarzeń z życia miasta i całego kraju… Pierwsze na ekranach telewizorów stosy trupów, pierwsze morderstwa w formacie niemalże „na żywo” (jakkolwiek absordalnie by to nie brzmiało), pierwsze skandale polityczne i seksualne, a w centrum każdego wydarzenia – postać niezłomnego i bezkompromisowego dziennikarza…
Widziałam go kiedyś na Newskim Prospekcie, niedaleko mojej szkoły. Kręcił kolejny reportaż, był skupiony i chyba strasznie na kogoś zły, zresztą wcale mu się nie dziwię. Codziennie wieczorem dostawaliśmy porcję „świeżonki” z ulic naszego miasta, a ktoś musiał to wszystko nakręcić, na własne oczy zobaczyć, a nieraz – uczestniczyć w akcjach np. przekazania zakładników, zatrzymania seryjnych morderców czy interwecji w bezprecedensowej sprawie niszczenia setek ton żywności (słynny reportaż o wywalanych na wysypiska śmieci tonach kiełbasy, parówek, mięsa, podczas gdy sklepy i talerze na naszych stołach naprawdę były puste).
Później, już w drugiej połowie lat 90-ch, kiedy przyjeżdżałam do Petersburga jedynie na wakacje, wielokrotnie bywałam tuż obok stajni Nevzorova – we wsi Murino, pomiędzy cmentarzem a ul. Leśną… Nie mogłam wiedzieć, że kilka razy w tygodniu, wracając od mojej przyjaciółki Żeńki, mieszkającej nieopodal, mijałam miejsce, w którym Nevzorov już wtedy pracował ze swoimi końmi… Niespecjalnie mnie to wtedy interesowało, a poza tym do roku 2005, kiedy ukazał się film Nevzorova „Loshadinaya Encyklopedia” („Końska Encyklopedia”) właściwie mało kto wiedział o nowej pasji byłego dziennikarza i jego znanej już dziś szkole Nevzorov Haute Ecole (NHE). No nie wiedziałam, że jestem tuż obok tego miejsca, bo jakoś tak się poukładało, że całe moje życie towarzyskie przeniosło się w tamtych latach z centrum miasta do nowo powstałej podmiejskiej dzielnicy Dewiatkino, dokąd przeprowadziła się z rodzicami moja przyjaciółka. Zawiązały się nowe znajomości, a spotkania w gronie nowych sympatycznych znajomych zazwyczaj przeciągały się do późnego wieczoru, więc, pamiętam, że w drodze powrotnej zawsze gnałam co sił w nogach, by zdążyć przed zamknięciem metra. Musiałam przecież, urywając się z imprezy, pędzić na jedną z ostatnich marszrutek, które zazwyczaj zawoziły mnie do metra Dewiatkino (no chyba że się psuły po drodze, wysadzając nocnych pasażerów w środku lasu). Niestety, nawet wejście do metra Dewiatkino nie było jeszcze gwarancją pełnego sukcesu. Wtedy akurat na tej linii w Petersburgu, pomiędzy stacją Leśna a Plac Męstwa doszło do podtopienia i ten krótki odcinek był zamknięty. Żeby dotrzeć do centrum miasta, gdzie nadal mieszkałam, trzeba było wysiąść na stacji Leśna, podjechać kawałek autobusem do kolejnej stacji, i, jak się miało szczęście i o tej porze stacja wciąż była otwarta, ponownie wskoczyć do metra. Rzecz jasna, liczyła się każda sekunda… Biegłam więc po nocy obok murów stajni, trzymając w ręce swoją torebkę, a nieraz i buty na obcasach, by tylko zdążyć przed zamknięciem drzwi do stacji metra. Dobrze pamiętam pewien epizod, kiedy przegrałam ów wyścig z czasem. Pokonałam odcinek do stacji metra Leśna, ostatnim z autobusów dotarłam do Placu Męstwa, i w tym miejscu moja podróż musiała się skończyć… Cóż, mogłam się spodziewać, że w końcu kiedyś się spóźnię… Bramy metra były zamknięte… Widziałam nawet przez szybę ostatnich pasażerów – szczęśliwców, zjeżdżających w dół ruchomymi schodami… Zmieszana i załamana, dreptałam przy wejściu do metra, licząc na cud… Powiem Wam, że sytuacja była naprawdę niewesoła… Nieprzypadkowo przecież miejsce to nazwano Placem Męstwa… Rzeczywiście, trzeba by nie lada odwagi, by spędzić noc w tej dzielnicy miasta – wokół stacji już gromadziły się grupki dilerów, a z wszystkich stron nadchodzili parami lub pojedynczo chłopcy o smutnych szarych twarzach… Gdybym miała pieniądze na taksówkę, telefon komórkowy lub chociaż kartę do budki telefonicznej… Nic z tych rzeczy… Mając w sobie resztki nadziei na wyjście z sytuacji, rzucałam się do każdego przejeżdżającego ulicą trolejbusu, lecz żaden się nie zatrzymywał – wszystkie leciały do zajezdni… Parę osób próbowało złapać taksówkę lub prywaciarza, a ja zrozpaczona starałam się trzymać jak najbliżej ostatnich z normalnie wyglądającyh ludzi… Jednak co chwilę ktoś odjeżdżał, a ja się czułam coraz bardziej zagubiona… Na piechotę miałabym do domu jakieś 6-7 godzin drogi i ruszyłabym bez chwili zastanowienia, gdybym tylko wiedziała, w którą stronę… I już nie miałam, kogo zapytać. Typów gromadzących się w pobliżu wolałam nie zaczepiać, bo cały czas miałam nadzieję, że może mnie nie zauważą. Uwierzcie, że w Warszawie nie miałabym żadnego problemu z nocnym powrotem, i to z wielu powodów. Po-pierwsze, są nocne autobusy. Po-drugie, są bankomaty. Po-trzecie, nawet gdybym znalazła się w podobnej sytuacji, ruszyłabym na piechotę, bo z każdej dzielnicy tego miasta wiedziałabym, w którą stronę się udać, by wrócić do domu… No i wreszcie po czwarte, to były inne czasy, inny kraj, zupełnie inne realia.
